We got a blizzard!

They just announced that work is canceled tomorrow, for the fourth day in a row (this is a DC record)! We have a full on blizzard outside, and it is nuts. When I looked out the window this morning I realized that it looks exactly like the beginning of The Empire Strikes Back! Crazy, crazy, crazy snow. So now I have been semi-stuck in my house for six days and am incredibly grateful for streaming Netflix, food storage, a big house, and five delightful roommates! I am sadly not at all sick of staying at home all day long and can't figure out where the week has gone!

Some highlights of the week:
- church at home with roommates (we had speakers, two lessons, and a musical number, and it took the entire three hours!)

- actually leaving the house Monday night to see New Moon for $1!

- picking up Scott and Janae from Dulles Airport yesterday after they'd been stuck in Utah for days. They had a very brief window to get back to DC before the second blizzard, and luckily they made it.

We did venture outside today. Some pictures:

It really felt like we were the only people left alive in this winter abyss

the snow is DEEP and when we played in the yard it went up to my waist in places

  1. I am so glad you had food and supplies on hand, and that your electicity has stayed on (most of the time.)

  2. This is so crazy. It hasn't hardly even snowed here, so it's hard to believe. Josh hasn't even used the snow clothes we bought him, and my kids have jumped on the trampoline all week. Sorry you missed Phoenix! And regarding Empire Strikes Back - remember if you find yourself stranded you can always take shelter in the belly of a large smelly creature. (Why did that particular detail always stick with me?)

  5. Fun pictures. I've never seen Empire Strikes Back; I was thinking along the lines of Day After Tomorrow. Glad you got to play in it. The luge sounds amazing!
