One of my roommates works at a hospital and had to go to work yesterday. She is from southern Alberta and has a car with four-wheel drive, so she was confident she could get home safely this afternoon. It ended up taking her two hours, her car got stuck twice (one time had to be pulled out by some kind soul who drove by with a chain), she had to park a mile away and when she was almost to our house she fell in "four feet of snow." I was delighted to hear her say that she has only seen snow like this once in Canada and it was the worst snow she has ever driven in! The snow is crazy!!! Our power went out for about six hours last night, but luckily I was asleep and didn't even notice...I just thought it was weird when I got up this morning and the lights were on everywhere!!! Apparently the roommates went to bed after the power went out. :)
Here are some pics of how our house looks today:
note that the branch snapped!
Oh no! Your power went out?! Yikes! Knock on wood... our power has stayed on the entire time... but we noticed the power lines hanging rather low with all the snow on them, so we're keeping our fingers crossed. Hope you guys are staying warm now! If it goes off again, come over to our house! :)
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING this! It's kind of fun being trapped inside with a verifiable excuse to do nothing for a couple of days. Enjoy no church tomorrow! (ours got cancelled, did yours?)
ReplyDeleteWhy does it always snow on the weekend on the East Coast? I guess getting a vacation day from church is something, but when they close your office and still pay you, that's the best. (Even if in your case they are paying you with my grandchildren's hopes and dreams. But I digress.) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI never thought I'd be grateful to be stuck in the snow in Utah. This is definitely worse.
ReplyDelete(I hate snow.)
oh wow! It stinks to be snowed in, but the pictures are beautiful. :)
