They have Duck Tours!!
In case you are unfamiliar, Duck Tours are only the hottest thing to hit Boston (and Australia, apparently). They are wonderful - it is my friend Scott's dream profession to be a duck tourguide. And when I saw these all over town, I knew I was in a good place.

So I went to the beach on Saturday. And I don't think I spoke to a single person the entire day. That is kind of weird. But the beach was nice - really touristy. And I kept looking up at the clouds and figuring out what shapes they made, and I kept on thinking every cloud looked like America. ha! Guess I'm a little homesick?

Please excuse the ugly sunglasses
This is me sitting on the beach in Surfers' Paradise. It was great - I finally got to read 1776 (another sure sign that I'm American...as if the accent wasn't enough)
SURFERS PARADISE! Thanks to public transportation, I was able to make it down to Surfers for the day and enjoy the beach and duty-free shopping (obviously this place is not targeting locals).
For me one of the interesting parts of foreign travel is spending a lot of time with myself. As it turns out, I can be pretty good company.
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel Luv, well I guess your dad may have told you that Surfers Paradise is not that far from where I was born. Have been there. Have you seen the bikini clad meter maids there yet? Many years ago, they wore spangled golden bikini's and they put money in the parking meters as a protest to the city fathers putting the meters up in the first place.
ReplyDeleteAny way luv, enjoy your time in Oz and you come away from there with love for my birth country.
I am from Toowoomba, a bit of a drive from Surfers, but still in the SE corner of Queensland.
Watch out for the land as well as the sea sharks - they love pretty girls...........
cheers,
