PotterWorld!

It was my year goal to go to Harry Potter Land. I wanted to go when the government shut down in April, but then it didn't shut down so I went to work instead. At least I got paid? But then a few weeks ago roommate Laura declared that to celebrate her (30th) birthday she wanted to go to HARRYPOTTERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was in. Problem was finding other people to go. We were supposed to go with my buddy Chad who moved to Florida, but his mom was going to be in town. Then we found this sweet groupon for a sweet resort in Orlando and we invited the masses and 7 of us ended up going. And it was awesome. Note that the Hogwarts Express conductor was was not part of our group, but rather a major character in the Potter series.

We all kept commenting that it felt like we were in DC, not Orlando, since we were just hanging with people who live in DC (sans Brigham, who flew out from Provo. He loves HarryPotter?!). It was awesome. Our weekend involved waterpark at the resort, swimming, hot tub, eating, HarryPotterMovieMarathon (which ended up being almost one entire movie...we are old and get tired early), and lots of getting to each other since half of the group was practically strangers before the trip. ALSO, I drove a minivan the entire time and am crazy about it and very oddly feel weird driving my own car of 8 years after returning to DC.

Co-worker Michael wanted to come but couldn't make it, but he gave me $5 to buy Laura a Butterbeer for her birthday. She loved it.

Hogwarts! It was a cool ride inside the castle that I got to ride FOUR times because it was raining when we got there so the lines were so short!!!! Blessings! Except for then my hair looked bad so I didn't want to take a lot of pictures. HAH I am lame.

If this had been a real book I would have bought it.

I loved Hogsmeade!

The sorting hat gave more instructions on the ride than as to my personality. Luckily I made up my own sorting hat quiz while we were in line and deemed Brigham a Slytherine based entirely on his favorite color being green. Pretty accurate.

This is right after Laura announced that we were going home and everyone cheered and said "this is the best part of the whole day." WHAT? Half of the group spent 4 hours riding log rides/other rides were you get wet, so they were pretty cold and miserable. Fools! I spent 4 hours riding awesome roller coasters over and over again.
Sunday we went to church and then headed to the beach for beach picnic. Long time friend Ida lives nearby and told me the best local beaches to go to and then met us there! It was so fun (and windy).

Look how much we bonded after our weekend. Besides poor Kara who is not pictured here because she left the beach to wash her feet and was waiting for us for like an hour but I thought she was coming back. uhhhh...

David foolishly tried a trust fall.

Yay for Florida!!
