Thought I'd add one more story from this week that is awesome.
So I am going to Orlando in two weeks (!!!) and have to rent a minivan for our weekend extravaganza! I saw that they were all over $300, except for one place had them for $180. I made a reservation, but then was suspicious and googled them and the results are comical. Needless to say, I cancelled the reservation and was going to be stuck spending a lot of money! I then check out my favorite costcotravel.com and I of course also tried priceline.com. Still pricey.
Anyway, by some fluke I remembered that you can rent cars with frequent flier miles. So I tried it out and could rent my weekend minivan for 16,000 miles OR I could use 1,000 miles and $100. This is awesome, by the way, since 1000 frequent flier miles = about $10.
So there is my tip for you. 1000 frequent flier miles saved me $200.
Now I will stop blogging about saving money and instead blog about how awesome my life is, though I often find that to me they are one in the same...
You and your deals. You never cease to amaze.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I might mention that I really love all your stories about mini vans. You've really got something going here.
Thanks again for arranging for our minivan for last year's Waterton reunion. I never tried renting with miles. Maybe you have a career as a frugal living blogger (if the gov't ever does away with the GSA.)
