The Plastics

Did anyone ever tell you that law school is just like high school?

Well, it is. And during my three years there I was able to live out the plot of Mean Girls (my third favorite movie ever) and become a member of "The Plastics". Okay, we weren't really like The Plastics (though three-way phone call sabatoge did once occur...and they taught me this), and Kari was so upset she swore when she realized the day of the Bar Exam that all this time we really should have been the Spice Girls! But "The Plastics" had already stuck, and so we are named: Kari, Rachel, Stacey, and Brooktynn. I love these girls.

We started "sweat pants day" at the law school, and though first year it was me putting a sign up in Property class and getting 10 people involved, by our third year half of the law school (including professors) wore sweats! And it lives on in our absence!

Third year we got carrels together and had to put up this purple curtain during finals to shield us from socializing.

Here we are at Law School Prom, along with honorary plastic (and Ginger, were we the Spice Girls), Daniel Adlong.

Stacey decided to get a JD and an MBA, so she was not present at graduation...she had to survive her last year without us!

Anyway, on Friday we are having the second annual PLASTICS REUNION and I could not be more excited! We were going to go somewhere new and exotic, but instead are going to Phoenix (again) because of this:

Last year Kari was overjoyed with the inexpensive New Balance Orthopedic Shoes at this Last Chance Nordstrom store (best. store. ever.). Oh, and we are also going to Phoenix because Brooktynn lives there and is pregnant!!!

Love you girls! Or, more accurately, love you Brooktynn!! (Kari and Stacey never read this).

  1. For some reason Madeline REALLY wants to leave a comment. She keeps banging on the keyboard, and she was leaving it alone before. So let's hear it for the Plastics and sweatpants day! I can attest that it's still going strong. I think they even have sponsors now for refreshments and stuff, although DP would have to verify that.

  5. Can't Wait!!! I wish every day could be sweatpants day, especially considering nothing fits me now. I also wish every day could be a plastics reunion, granted, without our jobs as a source of disposable income, plastics reunion weekend may not be possible. Also, when I mentioned to Ryan that the girls were coming this weekend, he said, "which girls?" to which I replied, "the plastics." Which was followed by him laughing. He explained, "I'm not laughing at the name, but the fact that you have a name for yourselves!"

Also, I love that your mom just asked if Kari was going to bring you another pair of gold shoes!
