Symphony in a Thunderstorm

I finally made it to Wolftrap--an amazing national park outdoor theater. The National Symphony Orchestra was playing, and I had tickets to sit on the lawn and watch them play. It was perfect.

Halfway through the symphony, it started THUNDERING and LIGHTENING like it only can in the East. It made for a very cool rendition of Carmina Burana.

Soon enough, it began POURING rain. But no one left! Everyone just pulled out their rain jackets/ponchos/umbrellas and sat there in a thunderstorm and watched the symphony. For another hour.

We finally left--totally soaked--and when I went to pick up the blanket we were sitting on I couldn't even lift it because it was so heavy! Absorbed so much water!

I desperately wanted a picture of a huge crowd of people getting drenched, sitting outside, listening to classical music. But I fortuitously left my camera at home--it would have gotten drenched.

  2. Amazing. Yay for Wolftrap! My first concert at Wolftrap was completely rained out, too. I was so mad.

  3. That sounds like the coolest concert ever.

I'm a little jealous about not being there.
