ZORB

What is a ZORB? I think of it as golfing, only I'm in the golf ball, along with a lot of water and two of my friends. Maybe that makes no sense. But yes - we did it! Gold Coast Zorb. Originating in New Zealand (as all "extreme sports" do), it was great fun. I think traditionally people are strapped in and they have to run like a hamster. But we are cheap, and you can get 3 people in one for the price of doing it alone, and then they just throw you in there with the water and you roll around. Here is a photo of Steve, Carrie, and me after we reached the bottom. Look how happy we are!

And here's a picture of what we did and the hill we rolled down. The entire process - going up the hill, getting in, rolling down - took less than 5 minutes. It was so fun - but still cost me $20! I guess that's better than what we were thinking of doing in Auckland: jumping from the SkyTower. That costs $195NZ for 16 seconds! ha!

Oh yes - to explain - my friends Steve and Carrie flew to Australia from the states, and today we are flying to New Zealand for four days. I have been asked if there really is a sort of rivalry between Australia and New Zealand, and I would say there is - though no one admits it. All the New Zealanders here say "New Zealand is so much better than Australia, and all of the Australians know it but won't admit it". And then all the Australians tell me "yes, everyone in New Zealand says New Zealand is better, but then why do they all move to Australia?" and apparently Australians all want to move to America to get away from the New Zealanders? I don't quite understand. And where do the Americans go? Canada? As an unbiased American, I will soon be able to definitively tell you which is better. Stay tuned...
