Merry Christmas!

Sunday in my class we talked about Mary and Joseph and how they were told to “fear not”—and they obeyed. I asked an engaged couple in the class how they would feel if they were put in Mary and Joseph’s place—if she was pregnant how would he react? As we talked more about the faith of Mary and Joseph, I was so wowed by the power in their obedience.

From there we discussed how we needn’t fear anything, because God has a solution to every problem, and with God nothing is impossible. Indeed, the angel commanding the shepherds to fear not for unto us a child is born has two meanings: both that the shepherds needn’t fear because the angels were only there to tell them of the birth of Christ, but also that because of the birth of Christ, they need never fear. Through the Atonement we can overcome anything.

I reflected on God guiding my life, constantly instructing me to fear not and be faithful, even though it is often hard to see the end from the beginning. To see evidence of this fact, I need only reflect on the events of this past year…2010 has been crazy. But I have also seen the Heavens shake for my good and God answering my prayers. I think every major thing I prayed for this year has happened:
- I have a job that I love. I don’t think I can convey how impossible I thought this was, and how truly miraculous it came about. I am again humbled before the Lord.
- Russell and James both got jobs, too!!!!
- My cousin Jill is having a baby next month.
- James, Will, and Anna are healthy.
- My bff Chad got matched for an Orthodontist residency. This was his life dream and he thought it was unattainable!!

A year of miracles.

That really isn’t as catchy as my original year theme “2010: Bring on the Men”. Note that in my class on Sunday I also got asked multiple times what my theme for 2011 was!!!! Stress! I ended the class with this:

2011: stop rhyming and get married.

Merry Christmas!

  1. I like it - short, simple, to the point, and much more mature than those rhyming themes ;-)

I do like 2010: a year of miracles! Merry Christmas!
