Sang!

One of the things in my life that makes me most happy is my friend Sang. For a lot of reasons. Let me give you a brief history:

1999-2000: some girl named Sang who also lives in D.T. always calls me to be in this choir. My bff Lane and I signed up for this choir (why???) and didn't realize how much of a commitment it was (weekly practice?) and we are busy being social 90 hours a week, so I generally avoid/feel a little awkward around Sang when I see her in the Morris Center.

2000-2001: Sang is my next door neighbor and we quickly become best friends! Even though I cannot pronounce her name and even wrote a song for her 20th birthday party that my current roommate Bekah attended and she STILL sings the song (it was very catchy: "I seen this sawn to sane, 'cause I can't say her name, no I can't, it ends in '-ng'....")

2001-2002: we live a block away from each other and still hang out daily. I also go to her house in St. Louis twice!

2002: Sang leaves for a mission!! I miss her!

2004: Sang gets back and marries Corey's mission buddy Devin. Decides to live in Missouri and never come to Utah to see me again!!!

2007: I am sad thinking about how I haven't seen Sang in 5 years and never will again. Then one night I get a voicemail from her saying she is in town for Conference! Amazing! We hang out and rekindle our friendship.

2008: I stop at her house in Missouri en route to D.C.

2009: She comes out to D.C. to see me twice!

When she and her family came out for my birthday last June!

Last November at the New Moon Premiere!

2010: I go visit her in Missouri...TOMORROW!

That's right! My roommate is driving to Missouri tomorrow to visit her sister, and I decided to make good on my promise to visit Sang in MO soon after she came to see me twice in D.C. last year! So excited. And honestly, few things warm my heart more than that Sang and I are again bffs, even if we lost contact for half a decade.

  1. I hope you had a great trip. You have always said great things about Sang. I am glad you were able to visit on her home turf.
