About a Blog

It’s been asked if this will continue.

From the beginning, the fate of this blog was that it would live and die in Australia. Look at the name – down under? Could I begin a new Rachel Up Over blog? No, that sounds horrible. Maybe it is a sign.

Here is my definitive statement: no.

But since I’m going to be a lawyer, there’s gotta be a clause. That clause is that if in the future I ever feel so inclined to blog something, I will not feel prohibited from doing so. Nor will I feel obligated to blog (there is nothing worse than an obligated blogger. If I don’t want to type it, you don’t want to read it).

But, assuming this is the end, I need to give out some thanks:

To Abigail and Dave Peris - for helping me figure out a name for my blog when I was so stressed about having something that was lame. I even stressed over this at law school during finals week, which is definitely a poor use of my time. (and Dave, I did think your idea of "adnauseam" was brilliant and was going to use it, but feared everyone would misspell the address).

To Becky, Jordan, Lane, Crystal, Jill, Jena, and Dad – for having blogs and not being lame. You inspire me.

To Briahna – for mocking blogs with me since 2004.

To Elisabeth Lynn – for being my first blog reader and telling me you were excited for it.

To Alicia Spjute – for telling me my blog wasn’t boring.

To my law school girls – for encouraging me to blog during our really boring meeting we had to go to AFTER finals were over when I showed every 1st year student and a lot of faculty how to play the Oreo game to predict your future spouse. How embarrassing!

To Jordan Muhlestein – for telling me you read my blog every day, and you are funny and cool so that is a good sign.

To Rebecca Allen – for having your sister read my blog, and letting me know that someone had the same favorite part of the blog that I do: almost writing Anakin in the margin of my Book of Mormon. That is the only blog that cracked me up.

To Janae – for starting your own blog just so you could comment on mine, and then for parodying my blog on yours.

To Lane – for saying how blogs let us keep in touch without actually having to communicate with one another. Thanks for helping me live the dream.

To Gibby - for letting me write about your 4th of July fiascos. Good luck with 24th of July next week.

To J. Andrew Livingston – for telling me you read my blog for an hour. WOW!

To Krystal, Dave, and Carrie – for telling me my blog did/almost did/could have gotten you in trouble at work because you were laughing out loud. That is my goal. I want you all fired.

To Kari – for letting me exploit your personal email to me on the world wide web, and for letting me move in with you next month.

To Chrissy, Doug, Janae, and Jenni – for actually sending me your high/low/high when I requested it. You have no idea how happy that made me.

To my parents – for checking my blog a lot. I love you.

To Russell – for so willingly writing a post for my blog and being the first to submit a poem to my contest. You make me feel like less of a nerd by cheerfully assisting me in my pursuits.

To Beckie and a slew of my other good friends – for never checking my blog once and helping me realize that it’s really not that big of a deal. There’s still email.
